About African Affairs Network / AAN is a student society at The University of Sheffield set up with the aim of providing a space in which contemporary African issues can be discussed. If you've got an interest in Africa and relevant issues, you're in the right place. Through this platform we hope to educate our peers on topics that are systematically excluded from mainstream curriculum.  Through academic lectures, interactive events and networking sessions we hope to bring together those of the diaspora, Africans and non Africans alike. To you this sight should offer a deeper insight into African affairs and provide a space where relevant information is easily accessed.

FRANCESCA - WELFARE OFFICER

Why AAN? I wanted to know more about the continent that raised my ancestors. I also wanted to know more about continent that shaped my personal belief and values. In the near future I would like to do some charity work in Africa and I want to see what charities are out there that I can take part in. I also want to learn more about how the healthcare system works as well as what local and international charities are doing to help people in Africa seek better healthcare?

NKECHI - VICE PRESIDENT

Why AAN? As a young African growing up in Asia and Europe, I had to make extra efforts to learn about my culture, heritage and what my identity as an African meant. I have also witnessed the misconceptions and misrepresentation of our continent and people in the media and even within an academic context, driving an aspiration to pursue a career in African development through which I hope to be influential in the future of the content.
